What you can count on.
January–February: Your CPA gets a tax summary.
At the start of each year I produce a summary of your tax planning tactics deployed in the previous year — Roth conversions, QCDs, realized gains and losses, estimated payments, etc. Your tax return should match your tax plan. This is how we make sure it does.
April–May: Review your goals and craft the tax strategy for the current year.
Every spring, after your tax return is filed, we discuss your goals and update your plan with fresh spending estimates and life changes. We’ll also draft an initial tax strategy for the year. In alternating years we’ll review your insurance policies and estate plan to make sure everything is up to date, efficient, and aligned with your goals.
October–November: Tighten and execute the tax plan.
Tax strategies must be implemented by December 31. By late fall we’ll have line of sight to your annual income and be able to dial in Roth conversions against your tax brackets and IRMAA estimates, harvest gains and losses from your brokerage accounts, ensure RMD obligations have been met, send charitable gifts including QCDs, etc.
Every quarter: Review your portfolio and adjust as needed.
Your investments have a job — to fund your lifestyle and goals. But markets are always moving and what you require your portfolio to produce will change over time. Every quarter I’ll make sure portfolio allocations are aligned with your cash flow needs and long-term objectives.
When decisions arrive: Do the math.
Retirement decisions come early and often. Some decision deadlines are predictable — health insurance elections, Social Security timing, pension option selection. Other decisions will be opportunistic — home relocations, buying that mountain cabin, gifting to the kids for their first home purchase. Whenever decisions arrive we’ll talk through the options and run the numbers.
December: You get the list.
At the end of every year, you’ll receive a full list of the actions we took to optimize your taxes, align your investment portfolio to your needs, and master your high-impact financial decisions. You’ll see the value each and every year.
The first 90 days
Discovery Meeting: We’ll make sure we share a common understanding of your financial profile and document your goals and vision for the future.
Delivery Meeting: I’ll present the proposed plan and action items. This will include your retirement income plan, your investment plan, and your long-term strategy.
Implementation: I set up your investment accounts and establish your service calendar so you know what to expect.
Then the annual cadence above takes over.
A 60-minute conversation. No charge, no pressure. We’ll both know by the end.
